Operations Manager

Nathan James is looking for an Operations Manager. This person will oversee day-to-day operations and be responsible for all metrics at our Reno fulfillment center.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

POSITION SUMMARY: In addition to providing leadership support to the employees, the Operations Manager is responsible for: planning, organizing, and monitoring all aspects of the fulfillment center. This includes, but is not limited to the below primary responsibilities:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that proper orientation/training occurs for all new team members; verify standards are understood and are continually upheld for all employees
  • Observe employee activities and provide feedback/positive reinforcement on safety, quality of work, productivity, and attitude
  • Handle employee questions, concerns, and follow up with the intent to maintain a positive work and team environment
  • Manage an inbound team responsible for the accurate unloading and put away of containers in timely basis to ensure we’re meeting our facility metrics
  • Manage facility PIT drivers responsible for all facility movements, ensuring that processes are being followed, there are not any bottlenecks occurring, metrics are being met and the entire facility is operating with organization, efficiency, accuracy, safety & product care
  • Manage all outbound activity to meet internal metrics as well as external customer expectations for delivery time & quality.  These metrics include shipment accuracy, fulfillment time, minimal product damage and consistent, continual fulfillment throughout the day (metrics monitored on a 2-3 hour basis) to maintain organization and calmness
  • Drive standards by motivating, teaching, exemplifying and holding team members accountable
  • Actively develop and promote open lines of communication to maintain and develop employee relations, encourage employee involvement in the process, and recognize employees for their accomplishments and ideas
  • Complete necessary documentation for tracking attendance, productivity, behavior, injuries and safety
  • Be able to dive deep within a process and drive process improvements through employee feedback, analyzing data, and up channeling changes to obtain all departmental goals
  • Managing the cleanliness & safety of the staff/facility by working with our maintenance team, opening/closing the facility, keeping the facility external doors safe from unwanted visitors, managing the preparation of trailers & always leaving the facility prepared for the following day


REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years’ supervisory experience preferably in a warehouse or distribution center environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Advanced skills in working on computers – Microsoft office package and time keeping software solutions
  • A dedicated leader of people that will continue to work to accomplish what they set out or told others that they would complete


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to walk and stand. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, handle or feel, to pull/push, cart with product, grasp and perform repetitive hand, wrist and arm motions. The employee is frequently required to climb, kneel/squat, bend and carry. The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment is moderately noisy. The employee is occasionally required to work near conveyor systems. There is exposure to dust and changes in weather conditions. Employee must be able to work in a high-volume, high-demand environment while meeting strenuous customer deadlines. Employee must be able to change priorities or job duties as needed and interact with employees at all levels.

Along with being a strong leader of people in the facility, Nathan James wants someone who wants to learn and understand anything and everything that happens with warehousing, distribution and fulfillment.  An ability to quickly master the areas of responsibility that are given to this position, while maintaining a curiosity and desire to know/learn more will be the best way to not only succeed in this role, but to thrive and grow within this role.
