Need help deciding on the perfect number of bookshelves for your space? Keep reading for information on how to choose!

How many bookshelves do I need to fill a wall?

Most of our bookshelves are about 2–2.5 feet wide.

As a general guide:

1 bookshelf: fills ~2–2.5 feet→ Great for small spaces, corners, or apartments
2 bookshelves: fills ~4–5 feet→ Ideal for bedrooms, home offices, or shared living spaces
3 bookshelves: fills ~6–7.5 feet→ Works well for feature walls or behind a desk or sofa

To find the best fit:

Measure your wall width
Divide by the bookshelf width. Always round down to be sure all of the bookshelves will fit on your wall. For example, if your wall width is 120 inches, the bookshelf you want is 32 inches wide, and you don't want any gaps in between your shelves, you would want to purchase 3 bookshelves for your wall.
Leave a little extra space if you want breathing room or décor on the sides

How can I create a built-in look for a full wall?

If you’re creating a built-in look (for a full wall)

Choose this option if you want a more permanent, library-style setup.

Measure your wall height. Some of our bookshelves come in different height options. Measure your wall height to find the right size for your space. If you want to add some extra height to your bookshelves, place taller objects on the top shelves for some added visual height. For wall shelves, you can also hang the shelves higher up on the wall for a more impactful look.
