Nathan James is a globally distributed/remote company and has been since day one. As a Recruiter, you will play a vital role in ensuring that we are hiring the best possible talent to sustain and contribute to our growth. This individual will work cross-functionally, with our hiring managers and key stakeholders partnering together to ensure we meet our hiring goals.  

As a member of our People Operations team, this individual will report directly to our Head of People while partnering closely with our People Operations Lead. While you will own the end to end full-cycle recruiting process, both members of our People team started their careers in the recruiting space and have been filling the role of recruiter for the last six months. As such, you will always have support, understanding, and strategic thought partners at your disposal. 

It is essential that the person in this role values a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture and understands they will be a key player in ensuring that it is represented in our hiring practices. 

Your key areas of responsibility will center around running and facilitating the full-cycle recruiting process across all functions. Which is primarily (but is not limited to) posting roles on various job boards, sourcing and screening candidates, coordinating interviews, conducting interviews, communicating with hiring managers and candidates throughout the hiring process, conducting reference checks, completing offer calls, and closing candidates. 

It is important to note that our recruitment steps and hiring process are already well developed, Including a fully built out Applicant Tracking System via Airtable. It is not necessary for someone to come in and re-structure or reinvent the wheel right away. It is core to how we work to thoughtfully plan out and balance outcomes based on the number of roles open versus prioritizing the most important things we see that are high impact when they come up. By doing so, we can thoughtfully plan when to address areas in need of improvement. Our goal for mid-year is to revamp some of our recruitment processes, and once you feel more comfortable with the process, you'll be able to make suggestions and contribute to the work that will go into that. 

A large part of this role will be sourcing. To assist, we have LinkedIn Recruiter, as well as Fetcher, which is a sourcing tool (and you are able to change these based on what you recommend). Recruiting for top talent should be done in a proactive manner, as opposed to simply waiting for applications to come in. You should feel comfortable managing passive talent.

  • You have experience recruiting for all roles across an organization, including technical roles
  • Currently, or in the past, you worked as an in-house recruiter at a smaller company or startup
  • You understand recruiting and funnel metrics, conversion rates, and know which levers to pull depending on their status 
  • You have a detailed and repeatable sourcing strategy and have experience running targeted job ads on LinkedIn and other various platforms
  • You understand that recruiting can be unpredictable, and as such, are able to pivot quickly if necessary 
  • You can easily build trust and communicate with clarity, influence, and partnership, across many different types of audiences 
  • You desire to work remotely and are aware that at times, you will need to work independently for long periods of time in this role. 

For this role we do require that your normal workday has at least 4 hours overlap with the North American workday (currently UTC-5) without impinging on your personal/family life. 

This is a remote role since we are a remote company! You’re free to work where you work best, anywhere in the world: home office, coworking space, or coffee shops. That hinges on effective writing, self-discipline, and comfort with open communication.
