A Simple Guide to Summer Entertaining

A Simple Guide to Summer Entertaining - Nathan James

Summer entertaining is all about fresh food, great company and keeping it casual. We have compiled our top 4 tips for simple and seamless summer entertaining from food to decor. Hint: you don't have to have a pool or BBQ to be the host with most!

Home Decor

What is an easy and quick way to decorate for a summer dinner party? Fresh flowers! If you aren't able to entertain outside, bring the outside in! Fresh flowers, hanging plants and indoor arrangements all serve to create a fresh summer feel. Tip! If you can manage to get up at 5am, visit your local flower market. Not only will this be a great trip out, but the choice and variety of flowers is incredible and much better than your local grocery store. This is also a great opportunity to support your flower sellers and florists. Tip: Our Theo Storage Bookcases with rattan details look wonderful with hanging plants!

Floral details aside, adding a little extra flair to your living space for a big event doesn't have to be hard.

Take inspiration from  @glam_home_decor They created a gorgeous and stylish nook using our Lucy Bistro Table. Being creative with empty spaces in your home ahead of a big party is such a great idea as not only does it create added dynamics to your space, but utilizing unloved corners adds new areas of interest for guests to chat and sip on their summer cocktails. Tip: If you want to transform a corner of your kitchen or entryway try using our Remi Headboard to create a banquette seating nook.

Create a Mini ‘Help Yourself’ Bar Nook.

Hosting friends and family is a wonderful way to connect with and enjoy each other. However, playing host is a demanding job and involves juggling many elements such as entertaining, figuring out timings for different food courses and making sure everyone has a drink in their hand at all times. The best way to free up extra time is to create a mini bar nook. You can either create this with a bar cart like our stylish Sally or a console table such as our Wesley. Simply arrange a large tray with a bucket of ice, mixers and your chosen liquor ( or non-liquor). This is a super fun way for guests to help themselves to drinks.

Create a Home Cafe

Have you thought about theming your summer get together? If you have been seeing social media feeds flooded with people on vacation in Europe and you're now dreaming of French Cafes or Italian Bistros, why not bring the cafe to you? It is so simple to create a cafe at home. Invest in a bistro table like our Amalia or Lucy and create a tray of delicious cakes and coffee for guests to help themselves. You can then sit and relax with friends whilst you while away the hours chatting and sipping on delicious coffee. A great addition to a cafe themed party are breakfast granola bars ( see our recipe below).

The Kitchen is the Heart of the Home

Here’s an idea: host your summer get together in your kitchen. The kitchen is a great space to host super casual lunches or dinners. If you have a kitchen island, utilize this space by serving cheese and grazing boards. People can stand and mingle or sit and relax. Our Linus Bar stools are comfy, casual and perfect for a spontaneous summer get together. Our Brandon Shelves are also a great and stylish storage solution for the busy summer host. A great idea for a grazing board is the concept of mixing cheese with chocolate. This is a super fun way to combine both sweet and savory. Creating a cheese and chocolate board will be the talking point of the party and you can even create a party game by setting guests a challenge of deciding which chocolate and cheese go best together.

So there you have it, summer parties don’t all need to be bbq’s and pool parties. You can host a wonderful summer gathering with a few simple tips and no stress! Enjoy!
